Are we going to regret this purchase?
We are about to have a baby of an as yet unknown gender. We need a new car seat. And we've decided to get a Britax Boulevard. So.
Or do we spend the extra money to get one of these two truly gender-neutral carseats?
There are a few things at issue here, right? If we have a girl, not too worried. This isn't princessy or anything, just pink. But if we have a boy (and given he could stay here till he's 65 pounds), will he feel humiliation? Will friends and older brothers mock?
(We could buy the cheap one and just buy a different cover, but the covers cost $80 so that's stupid. Don't suggest that.)
These are all identical save color.
What would you do?

IF your kids are half the monsters mine are, the gender neutral colors hide the grime much better.
And my little girl doesn't care what color she is strapped too, just that it is hindering.
You don't want an infant carrier/carseat? I really liked being able to carry my sleeping baby inside after a shopping trip without waking him.
But in any case, I'd say to borrow someone's infant carseat until after the baby is born. There must be a dozen people in the ward who have a toddler who has probably just grown out of one. Then if you have a boy and can imagine putting him in the (admittedly very cute) pink carseat, do so with pride!
Oh no! I feel your pain.
I always prefer the darker, more gender neutral for carseats. This being said, it really isn't going to matter to the baby-- he/she will be done using it by the time they are four or so-- before they care about colors. Right??
But if it was me, I'd say get one that matches what you've already got. Good luck, and let us know what you do!
I would peek at the ultrasound to determine the gender of my fetus!! ;)
I'm with Tristen in that I would get the one that matches what I've already got.
I'm with David J. West. It would be worth the extra 40 bucks to me to have the grime far less evident.

So it sounds like everyone is leaning gray. Okay.
(And Satsuki---we've never used one. We have self-righteous reasons for that, but we'll keep them to ourselves.)
holy cow do i have a win-win for you. L, check your email :)
Satsuki, I like your idea and have been meaning to send out a request to the ward, I just keep forgetting to do so....
Looks like you don't need my advice. Landon likes pink. I'll leave it at that.
I vote stripes. Although I'm sure your boy child would not be scarred in the least by having a pink car seat. It sounds like cchrissyy has your problem solved, though.
Probably late to the party, but I would vote for neutral just for the blending in with other carseats/grime hiding capabilities. Little Dude has pink sippy cups and wears Dora diapers and no one cares.
I'm also self-righteous about infant seats, but we've always borrowed one for the first few weeks just because they seem to fit tiny babies better. Ours usually stays in the car--partly because c-sections preclude lugging anything that heavy about.

Thank you to everyone for your opinions. We ended up not purchsing any of these car seats. Why? Becasue cchrissyy provided a very good solution to the car seat dilems. Becasue of her, we now have a very nice, brand new Britax Diplomat for the soon to arrive Thteed child number 3. Thanks cchrissyy!!
