The Empty Square

number puzzleI have come to realize that my house is like a number puzzle. The kind you hold in your hand, with one empty space and you have to move the squares around until you get all the numbers in order. That's what my house is like.

It appears to be impossible for all the rooms in my house to be clean, neat and tidy all at the same time. At least one room is always a mess. Usually that room is the master bedroom. And as I was cleaning it the other day, the dining room slowly became messier and messier.

The mess never really gets cleaned up, just shifted to another room.

The mess goes in the empty square. And, apparently, my room is that empty square most of the time.

>sigh<

Finally!

I got new glasses! And I must say that they are awesome. I love them. So much better than wearing a pair with just one arm. The search for this pair went much better than last time. Theric and I quickly selected these as the best match for me from the selection that was available to us. I am very happy with them. A number of people have noticed the new glasses, but not as many as noticed when I was wearing the broken ones--interesting.

Religious Dog

Are dogs religious? I don't know for sure but I have seen the same dog at church the last two weeks. When I say 'at church' I do not mean wandering around the building, I mean inside the building, in the chapel, in Relief Society, attending with a human friend.

I first saw it last week. I was sitting in the pew, listening to the Sunday School lesson. My eyes had wandered away from the teacher's face and around the space in front of me. That's when I saw it--a face that was clearly not a baby's, even though the face was looking at me from a human shoulder. "Holy cow! Is that really dog!?" I thought. I stared more intently and decided that yes, it was actualy really a dog. A minature dauschuand in fact, brownish red in color. A dauschand being held in the exact same way a mother holds a baby being burped.

After determining that it was a real dog, my next realization was that this was perhaps the quietest dauschand I had ever encountered. Those little dogs are known for being yappy, but this one was silent. The only sound coming from the dog was the sound of the chain links in it's leash hitting each other. What a well behaved doggie. My next obersavtion: the dog was dressed up for church. It was wearing a very nice-looking pink sweater (must have been a girl dog).

I pointed it out to Theric and he too was quite surprised--neither of us had ever seen a dog in a church building. For a moment I thought that maybe it was a guide dog, but neither of us thought that dauschands would make very good seeing-eye dogs. We were at a loss as to why the dog was there, or if there even was a reason, besides being loved and inseperable from its owner.

The dog was at church again today. I noticed it in Relief Society, being held by the same sister. It obviously belongs to her. And if it is not an assistance dog of some sort, it is the most well behaved dauschand I have ever seen--it never makes a sound. And if it continues attending church, it may well become the most religious dog I have ever seen as well.
